celebration! The UW-Manitowoc Lakeshore Wind Ensemble’s exciting 25th
Anniversary Season begins with symphonic band masterpieces,
including “Festive Overture” by Dmitri Shostakovich, “Slavonic Dance
No. 8, Opus 46” by Antonin Dvorak, and “Jubilation Overture” by
Robert Leist. Guest trombone soloist Dr. Eric High will be featured
in “Concerto for Bass Trombone” by Eric Ewazen. |

Begin your
family’s celebration of the holiday season with the Lakeshore Wind
Ensemble! From the LWE Antiphonal Brass fanfares resounding through
the theatre, to the charming Festival of Christmas Children’s Choir,
this concert will be a treat for your entire family . The program
will include James Curnow’s “Rejouisssance” and a narration of the
classic “The Night Before Christmas.” TV anchorman Tom Zalaski will
narrate both concerts, and the traditional audience sing-along will
conclude each concert. |

they present a program of hits chosen from over 70 years of Oscar
history. Music from “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Chicago” and “Star Wars”
and beyond will be on the program. Take a walk down the red carpet
and come to the Oscars!

from the realm of classical music will be featured in “The Winds of
March,” including “Finlandia,” by Jean Sibelius, “Procession of
Nobles” from Mlada, by Nicholas Rimsky-Korsakov, and “Russlan
and Ludmilla, by Michael Glinka. The winners of the Lakeshore Wind
Ensemble Association’s 21st annual Young Artist
Competition will be the featured soloists, and the Wesley Teply
Community Service Award in the Arts will be presented to a community
member who has made a significant contribution to the arts in the
Lakeshore area. |

"An American Salute" traditionally pays tribute to American
composers. Join the wind ensemble for some of America's
greatest music. You'll enjoy George Gershwin's "American in
Paris," Morton Gould's "American Salute," F.W. Meacham's "American
Patrol," as well as Aaron Copland's "Variations on a Shaker Melody"
from Appalachian Spring, and Leonard Bernstein's "Overture to
Candide."

concert in the park is part of the city’s “Music Under the Stars”
program. Pull up your lawn chair and enjoy a summer concert in the
park with the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble in the “coolest city” in
Wisconsin.

inclement weather, the city of Two Rivers is prepared to
move the event in-doors. So...don't let the possibility of a

"Spring
Concert," Saturday, April 4, 2009,
Capitol Civic Centre, Manitowoc, Wisconsin at 7:30 PM.

The second of the
Lakeshore Big Band concerts features pianist Allen Bonde with the
Lakeshore Big Band in the original version of “Rhapsody in Blue” by
George Gershwin as conducted by Paul Whiteman. The concert will also
feature the Manitowoc premiere appearance of Mara Bonde, soprano
soloist who has appeared throughout the US and Europe, singing
popular big band era and contemporary songs accompanied by the
Lakeshore Big Band as well as her father, Allen. |
