University 101

Jackson Elementary, 4-19-07

On April 19, around 80 sixth graders from Jackson Elementary visited the University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc to participate in the first ever "University 101." The event was organized by the campus' Future Teachers Club as a way to expose the elementary students to the University, and give the future teachers a chance to gain experience instructing students.

With the help of Marty Schuh, Professor of Mathematics, Steven Adams, Assistant Professor of Physical Education, and Dr. Amy Kabrhel, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, UW-Manitowoc students led mini-lectures and activities. Thirty UW-Manitowoc students helped organize the day, with around 20 of them planning on pursuing a career in teaching.
